My project for the hop is a teen inspired Valentine's frame for my daughter to give to her boyfriend for Valentine's Day.

I started with a very inexpensive plastic frame from Micheal's ($3.99) and then used vinyl and bling to decorate it! (Here's the before picture of the frame.)

I used the cricut cartridge Sophisticated for the black frame, cut in black vinyl. And then the heart with wings is from the Love Struck cartridge. I used a dark pink vinyl for the background layer and then a lighter pink vinyl for the detail layer.

I then added some bling and I was done. It was a very easy project!

My Sweet Valentines!

For my January project for My Pink Stamper I made a scrapbook layout!

This layout uses leftover scraps from my project below. I didn't want to throw out all the colorful pieces leftover from cutting the labels...so, I thought I'd use them to create a colorful layout. I know these aren't your typical Valentines colors...but...I like that it's different.

The photos are of my son and daughter when they were younger.

The font is from an older cricut cartridge called Printing Press. I'm trying hard not to forget to use my old favorite cartridges...even though we have so many fun new cartridges out now. I love all the crazy mismatched font shapes in Printing Press.

Cricut Cartridges - Printing Press and George & Basic Shapes (for the Hearts), the colorful circles and strips were leftover scraps from cutting labels using the Art Philosophy cartridge

My 'clean slate' project is for a large whiteboard calendar at my office. My job is very technical...so, the calendar is filled with scribbled on technical information...dates, deadlines, milestones, etc. (I'm sorry I can't show you a picture of it...some of the information is confidential.) I'm finding that some of the 'FUN' information is getting lost in all the 'technical'.

What I've done is to create a variety of fun, colorful labels that we'll be able to use, and reuse, on the calendar to highlight some of the fun things.

'Celebrate' and 'Party Time' can be used to highlight events...but...they can also be used as a fun way to celebrate milestones that are accomplished and when deadlines are met. 'Birthday Goodies' and 'Enjoy' will help identify special days when treats have been brought in for the team.

Cricut Circle Challenge...Using Cricut CraftRoom

I've had this idea for a home decor item I've been wanting to try...so, when I saw the challenge to use the new Cricut CraftRoom design tool...I knew it was time to try it!

I love using the CraftRoom! It uses similar features of other graphic design types of software so it hasn't been too difficult to figure out. And now, with WiFi on my E2 machine...it's even more wonderful to use. I love that I can wirelessly send my CCR designs directly to my cricut!

My craft space is set up in my dining room. And, I've repurposed an old tv cabinet to hold my paper so that it doesn't fade in the sunlight. Since I'm always facing the end of the cabinet, I thought I'd use this challenge to add some creative inspiration to that space.

Using layers in CCR, I was able to create three 12x12 word collages to cut in vinyl and adhere to the side of the cabinet. I used a few different fonts to add a little variety and then added a couple of flourishes to the sides.

Below is what the CCR file looks like with all 3 font layers visible (looks like a mess!).

But, CCR makes it easy to turn off the different layers so you can clearly see what you're working on. Below is just the 3rd layer visible.

I really like how it turned out on the cabinet. Using CCR to line it all up, along with the ability to use text boxes, made this a fun and easy project to do. I know I'll be using CCR a lot more now!

Cricut Monthly Challenge - Gift Wrap

I've been so busy with family and the holidays that I haven't had a chance to post anything lately.

I just noticed I have a few hours left to add a project to the Gift Wrap Cricut Challenge on the Cricut Circle Blog. Here's a box I made for a special ornament that I gave as gifts. The penguin with the mustache matched our silly Christmas card photo!

The box was made using the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge, cut at 11.5".

The penguin is from Joys of the Season, as is the Santa Hat. (I welded them together on my gypsy for the background, cut in white.)

The mustache is from Billionaire.

Pinecone Snowball Ornament!

This was my first attempt at making a glitter ball ornament. I wanted it to look like a snowball so I used both the chunky glitter and the fine glitter on the inside...using 'Glitter It' for the adhesive.

The pinecone was made using a flower cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge. I added some chunky and fine glitter to the edges of it as well. The greenery was cut from the Christmas cricut cartridge.

Here's the flower cut before I rolled it up as a pinecone. I sanded it a bit first to give it a distressed look.

Snowman Lanterns!

I just have to share........do you remember my snowman (or is it a snow-lady)? It's being featured in the current edition of Provo Craft's newsletter - The Chirp! I'm so excited!

Below I've added a kraft ribbon tag to my snowman with the sentiment "Nice to SNOW ya!" stamped on it! The stamp is from the wonderful Robyn at My Pink Stamper...and it's from her Winter Treats and Sayings stamp set.

One more thing you can do with them is to add a battery operated tea light inside and you'll have some darling lanterns! (The picture isn't the best but you get the idea!)

Sophie Cricut Cartridge - Blog Hop!

Welcome to my blog and to my project for the Sophie Blog Hop! You should've arrived at my blog from Diane's wonderful blog...Diane's Daily Dribble. If you want to start back at the beginning, here's the link to get you back to Michele's blog.

I hope you've found lots of inspiration from all the projects along the hop. I wanted to participate in it because I absolutely love the Sophie cartridge...but...I never use it! I needed a challenge to get myself to use it.

For my project, I made a scrapbook layout of one of our adventures picking out the perfect Christmas tree. I used various sizes of the beautiful Christmas tree from the Sophie cricut cartridge. (Click the pictures to view them larger.)

Using my gypsy, I welded the different sizes of the trees together and then rimmed the design with 1/2" x 12" rectangles on all four sides, also welded to the trees. This allowed me to cut this top layer as one piece, out of Kraft cardstock. On a second layer, on my gypsy, I cut the green tree layers. I varied the trees using the outside of the cuts for some, and the inside of the cuts for others.

Here's how the design looked on my gypsy, showing it welded together.

I used buttons to top the trees along with wrapping the largest tree in bakers twine, and adding the sentiment 'Holly Jolly' stamped at the base. (The stamp is from the adorable Winter Treats and Sayings stamp set from My Pink Stamper!)

Paper used: Bazzill Kraft, Core'dinations (Beige), DCWV (Glitter), Teresa Collins (Christmas Words).

My wonderful parents celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving! Here's the card I made for them, using their wedding photo.

I welded two rectangles together to form the card, and then cut a second rectangle (inside a rectangle) to form the frame (all using George and Basic Shapes).

The flowers are from the Art Philosophy cartridge, along with the green vine. I added some pearls to the center of the flowers.

You're Cool...Snow Globe Card!

I made this card for the November design team assignment for My Pink Stamper! The assignment was to make a card featuring a unique fold. I was inspired by the cards on the Just a Note cricut cartridge and wanted to design a similar fold. Here's the card I came up with:

The 'You're Cool' sentiments stamp is from the Lunchbox Thoughts stamp set from My Pink Stamper! I really love how versatile they are...they're not just for lunchboxes!

I used my gypsy to weld the shapes together: a long rectangle for the base, a shape for the back (an oval or square would also work), and then the shadow of the snowman on one side and the snow globe on the other. The snowman and snow globe are from the Doodlescharms cartridge. Here's how it looked on my gypsy:

Our assignment this month was to make a scrapbook layout or mini album. I'm a scrapbooker so I knew I'd be making a layout...but...this isn't just a scrapbook layout, it's a page from my heart.

I'm the youngest of four sisters. The four of us have almost always lived close and we've always been there for each other. My oldest sister, Diana, passed away several months ago...way too young. And now, with the holidays upon us, it's hard to think about her not being here with us. This layout is my celebration of my sisters...(click to view larger).

I used four of the sentiment stamps from the Flowers & Friendship stamp set from My Pink Stamper for this layout. Two are on the green leaves, and two are repeatedly stamped on the pink flowers.

Love is stamped on one pink flower and Friendship is stamped on the other.

Rock on...mini album!

I made this mini album for the weekly contest on the cricut circle. It documents all the concerts my little rocker girl got to see when she was just 11.

The star on the front is from George and Basic Shapes, the skull on the back is from An Ocean of Words, and the crown is from Alphalicious.

A Panda Box!

This was a project I knew I would eventually have to make...for my panda obsessed sister, Sandy! I would've liked to have added more details...but, she was on her way over and I ran out of time! She still loved it!

It uses the same round box from Sweet Tooth Boxes cricut cartridge (the ice cream sundae) cut at 11.71". The ears are just circles, the nose is a rounded triangle and the eyes are the panda eyes from the Create a Critter cartridge. I placed a small white brad through the top of the head to hold down the cut out at the top (where the cherry goes on the ice cream sundae). I'll be making some more of them for her and will use the cherry part to add a bow to, for girl pandas.

Winter/Christmas Blog Hop!

I hope you've been enjoying all the wonderful projects along the hop. And, you're nearing the end...only one more stop after this one.

If you've been to my blog before, then you're probably familiar with the creations I've been making with the round box from Sweet Tooth Boxes. First it was the designer pumpkins...and then the angry birds. Well, I'm still having fun with that box...so, I'm using it again.

My project for the blog hop is a Snowman Gift Box!

The snowman is made using the ice cream sundae cut from the cricut cartridge - Sweet Tooth Boxes (cut at 11.71"). The nose is a triangle from George and Basic Shapes (GBS), rolled to form the cone shape. The hat is 2 circles and a rectangle strip, cut from GBS...and then once I assembled the hat, I scrunched it up to look a little worn. The eyes are 2 small circles from GBS. The flowers and flourish are from the Art Philosophy cartridge (3" & 4" flowers).

Finish up with some ribbon, twine and some bling and you've got a cute little snowman gift box! I'm going to use them to wrap gift cards in.

Holly Jolly Card!

I'm having so much fun working on projects using the AMAZING stamp sets from My Pink Stamper! For the October design team assignment, we were to create a Christmas card using the stamp set Winter Treats & Sayings. There are so cute sentiments in this set...it was hard to choose which one to use!

For my card, I used the Jolly Holidays cricut cartridge. The house is cut at 3.75". I love the whimsical design of this house...with Santa's feet sticking out of the chimney!

Halloween decor...using Vinyl!

Here's a few quick and easy project I made for Halloween...using vinyl.

If the shoe fits...

I used a plain metal sign (found at Michael's) and cut the witch shoe from the Happy Hauntings cricut cartridge at 6.5". The font is also from Happy Hauntings. And then, it's embellished with purple bling!

You say Wicked...

For this project, I used the witch from the Wrap it Up cartridge, cut at 7.5". The font is from Songbird, welded on my gypsy, with the exception of WICKED...which is from Happy Hauntings again.

Skull pumpkin...

I like to make temporary decorations for our pumpkins, as we wait for closer to Halloween to carve them. This skull and bones is from Indie Art.

My Pink Stamper Blog Hop!

I made an easy 'peek-a-boo' pumpkin bag filled with candy corn! I wanted to make something that would be quick and easy to make to give to my co-workers on Halloween (since they keep thinking I should bring them some of my cricut Angry Birds that I made for our work craft fair! See them in the blog post below).

Materials used:

Directions - to make the peek-a-boo bag, I used my gypsy and placed the small bag from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More on the mat. Then, using Gypsy Wanderings I placed a circle shape directly on the front panel of the bag (mine's a little off center but it doesn't show when the pumpkin is added). I then cut the bag out, and the cricut cut the circle shape.

I also cut one pumpkin out of black paper and one out of orange. The black pumpkin I positioned over the circle hole and adhered to the bag. And then I was able to use some foam squares to pop up the orange pumpkin to give it a little dimension. The tag is also from Gypsy Wanderings and then stamped with Enjoy from the Yummy-licious stamp set by My Pink Stamper!

Angry Birds...using Sweet Tooth Boxes!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while...there's been way too much going on. But, I was able to get some crafting done for a craft fair I did...and, one of the things I made was Angry Bird boxes...designed after the popular video game. I used the Sweet Tooth cartridge for all the boxes. The red bird, black bomb bird, and green pig king - all use the same ice cream sundae box that I used for my designer pumpkins below. The yellow bird uses the cake slice box (since that bird has a triangle shape).

These were so much fun to make and were a huge hit at the craft fair!

My Cricut Designer Pumpkins!

The design team assignment this week for Creative Critterz Imaginations was to create whatever we wanted. Well...I've been wanting to get a jump start on the items I'll be making for a craft fair I'll be participating in at work. So...I'm made these designer pumpkins...for cubicle decor!

I used my Imagine and the Teresa Collins Black and White Imagine cartridge to create the paper (printed the designs on Orange Bazzill cardstock), and then used the cricut cartridge Stretch Your Imagination for the stem and leaf.

The 'Hey Pumpkin!' sentiment stamp is from the Spook-alicious set by My Pink Stamper!

If the Broom Fits...Layout!

I made this layout for the September design team assignment for My Pink Stamper. The assignment was to use Robyn's fun new stamp set 'Spook-alicious', along with the colors: Orange, Green, Black and Purple.

When I saw the stamp..."If the broom fits..." in the 'Spook-alicious' stamp set, I knew I wanted to use it with the photos of my daughter dressed as a witch on Halloween.

Pinkalicious Blog Hop - My Pink Stamper!

Welcome to my blog and to the September My Pink Stamper Pinkalicious Blog Hop. I'm so excited to share my 3-D project with you...I've made a version of an Apple Box too!

Where I live, there is an area nearby called Apple Hill. Every Fall, the apple farmers open up roadside shops and sell apples...and homemade apple pies...and apple dumplings...and apple butter...and you name it. It's fun to take the family up to Apple Hill for a few hours to go to the different farms...shopping at the craft fairs and picking pumpkins at the pumpkin patch.

This year, I'm going to get some extra apple goodies for my apple boxes and give them away as gifts. My apple box is large enough to hold a fresh apple hill APPLE...but, I think I'll go with a caramel one! What a treat that will be!

Easy Fall Decoration!

This is what I made for my Thursday design team assignment at Creative Critterz Imaginations. It was so easy and can be easily made for any season.

I used my Cricut Imagine along with the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge and the Imagine - Enjoy the Seasons cartridge.

Fall Blog Hop!

If you've arrived to my blog from the Fall Blog Hop...WELCOME! I'm the last stop on the hop! You should've arrived here from Tracy's wonderful blog...Scrappin' in the woods with a Bug!

For my Fall project, I came up with a really easy idea for some Fall decor...I made my own decorative blocks! (Click on the pictures to view them larger.)

Materials Used:
Cricut Cartridges - Sweet Tooth Boxes, Sophisticated and Gypsy Wanderings
Paper - Tim Holtz
Hambly Grid Overlay

The blocks are cut from the Sweet Tooth cartridge using the CubeBox at 10.5" (just the box part, not the top). I used my Gypsy to add the letters before I cut it. The letters are from the Sophisticated cartridge, the upper case font. I stretched them a little to fill the space (width was 2.59" and height was 2.54"). (Tip...do a test cut first...the boxes are turned upside down when finished so you want the letters facing the right direction!)

The leaves are cut from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge and attached with foam dots for dimension.

The Hambly overlay was cut by hand and applied to the inside of the letters.

It was so simple to put together!

Will work for...Magic Reindeer Food!

Here's my latest project for the My Pink Stamper design team! I made this card using one of Robyn's stamps from the Winter Treats & Sayings set. It's such a cute set, and it has so many great sayings on it!

My reindeer is from the cricut cartridge called Campin' Critters. He's usually holding a branch with fishing line attached and a fish on the end of his line...instead, I used my gypsy to weld a sign to the branch, covering over the fish, to create my sign saying "Will work for...Magic Reindeer Food".

Cardstock - Bazzill for the Green, Dark Brown, Brown Dot and Tan Dot, American Crafts for the White

My Pink Stamper...Pinkalicious Blog Hop!!!

Hi everyone! I'm Sharon and this is my first Pinkalicious blog hop as a design team member for My Pink Stamper! I'm so excited to be a part of this.

The project I created for the blog hop is a Halloween layout. I'm a scrapbooker and I love finding ways to use stamps on my layouts! I used two stamps from Robyn's Spook-alicious set to create borders for my layout! 'Trick or Treat' was used on the top border and 'Smell my feet!' was used on the bottom border. I love this stamp set...it has so many cute stamps in it! (Click on the pictures to see them larger!)

I have 2 sayings when it comes to scrapbooking.

#1 - I have more photos than time. (I gave up on the idea of getting caught up long ago. Now, I scrap what makes me happy!)

#2 - Done is better than perfect!

I made this layout for the online swarm on the cricut circle. It was a Christmas in July themed swarm so all the projects had to have a Christmas theme. (Not easy to do when it's sweltering hot outside!)

My Pink Stamper Design Team Entry!!

I'm so excited! Robyn, at My Pink Stamper, is having a call for Design Team Members! I love her blog and am a huge fan of hers (her creativity is amazing)! So, I figured I have two options...try out for her design team...or, become a stalker. With all the amazing talent out there...it might be easier to become the stalker. But, I'm going for the design team! It's something I've always wanted to do.

The challenge Robyn assigned, is to create a project (card, scrapbook layout, or other cricut project) using the following colors: Turquoise, Orange, Green and Brown. I was a little nervous about the color combination...but, once I started pulling out the paper colors, the ideas started flowing.

Here's the layout I made...titled 'beautiful Friends'. I tinted the photo, of my daughter and our dog, with a chocolate brown color to match the color combination. (Click on the pictures to view them larger.)

Unique...celebrate it!

My daughter is definitely UNIQUE...and...we celebrate it! She's not one to blend in...she's one that stands out. I find her individuality to be wonderful traits...she's fearless, she's not one to follow the crowd, and, she doesn't fold under the pressure of others. That's worth celebrating! When you combine that sense of spirit...with Teresa Collins products...you've got a fun combination! When I saw the cricut magazine challenge for this month was to use Teresa Collins products...and, make it something to 'celebrate'...I knew what I was going to do!

Here's my entry for the monthly cricut magazine challenge!

I used my imagine, and the Teresa Collins Black & White patterned cartridge, to create some fun and unique embellishments for my page. I printed the clock pattern directly ON a sheet of Teresa Collin's pink clock paper...and then cut the strip out!

The letters and butterflies are printed with patterns from the TC Black & White cartridge and then cut out. The butterfly cut is from the preloaded shapes on the imagine. The letters for UNIQUE are cut from Don Juan, with the exception of the N and E which are cut from Graphically Speaking.

The photo I printed directly on a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 Bazzill textured cardstock in French Vanilla. I love the soft tones in it.

I had so much fun creating this page, experimenting with my new imagine, that I've decided to submit it as my application for the imagine design team with Creative Critterz Imaginations! Wish me luck!

Another Weekly Challenge Entry!

This time the challenge was to use some sort of fabric on your project. I used some felt for the little birds. (I'm dating myself here...but, don't they remind you of the Partridge Family?! Hello world..there's a song that we're singing...Come on get Happy!)

I love this picture of my family...all of us having dinner on the back patio. My sister, Diana, isn't in the photo so I think she was taking it. I'm the youngest of the family. In the picture I'm the one closest to my Mom.

Both the scallop frame and the tree are from the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge.

I finally jumped on the bandwagon and got myself a Cricut Imagine! I can't say that I love it...(YET!)...I've got to get the calibration perfected first. But...I am loving all that I think I will be able to do with it in the future!

The first thing I had to get for it was the Teresa Collins Black & White pattern cartridge. And...just as I suspected........TC Black & White + Kraft Paper = LOVE!!!!

I'm having so much fun creating my own border strips! This is going to be a great new toy!

My Circle Calling Card!

I used the following cartridges: George and Basic Shapes (3"x3" rounded square), Cricut Everyday (circle logo) and the sun is from the Creative Memories cart Cheerful Season. The clouds were made with a Fiskars punch.

Magazine Challenge Entry!

The cricut magazine challenge was to be inspired by one of the items in the magazine. I chose the Welcome sign (with the gate and flowers) as my inspiration. I thought I would make a Welcome sign for my nephew for his new house. But then I got to thinking about my nephew. He's an artist (painting and tattoo) and he uses a lot of tiki's and skulls in his designs. So, I thought I'd turn him and his family into tiki's! I also included the woody car...because he's in process of refurbishing one in his garage...complete with surf board!

I used 7 different cricut cartridges for this: Life is a Beach, Luau, Dude (Lite), Zooballoo, H2O, Gypsy Wanderings and Rock Princess. To make the people I used the bodies from H2O and welded the tiki's from LAB to them. And then the kids (girl and boy twins) are from Luau. The mountains, car and sign are from Dude. The palm tree background is from Zooballoo. The jungle leaves and large tiki are from LAB. The coconut, round part, is from LAB and the skulls are from Rock Princess. The sun and flowers are from Luau.

So...what started as a Welcome sign, has turned into a 10"x 20" framed project! I'm giving it to him this afternoon for his birthday...I hope he likes it!

Here's a closer look at some of the details. I used a lot of dimensional adhesive to make it really pop. I also used a stamp and brown ink on their arms to look like tattoos.

Remembering Diana...

This was the hardest project I've ever had to do...because I was making the programs for my beautiful sister's memorial service.

I made 150 of these programs using the Peony from the Picturesque cartridge. Pink peonies were her favorite flowers.

I love you and miss you Diana.

For my layout, I used the following cartridges: Birthday Bash for the elephants, banner, birthday hats and balloons, Stamping for the words, Doodlecharms for the sun, and then Gypsy Wanderings for the scalloped photo mats.

Close up of the elephants. I welded the bases of the elephants together with my gypsy along with the balloons and string. And then I welded the birthday hats to the top layer of the two larger elephants. The white dot on the balloons are extras from the top of the birthday hats.

Cricut Weekly Challenge Entry!

The challenge for this week was to create a sketch and then a project based on the sketch. I've wanted to make a layout using a variety of font styles so I came up with this...here is my sketch:

And, my layout. The fonts used are: Base Camp for Freedom, Printing Press for Beauty, Alphalicious for Truth and Opposites Attract for Love. All the words were cut from black cardstock and then I stamped on Beauty and Love to add a different look to them. (The words - Freedom, Beauty, Truth & Love - are the Bohemian mantra from the movie Moulin Rouge.)

The Cricut Circle Magazine challenge for this month is on cricut organization. You have to show how you store at least 4 cricut related items. For me, I use the "leg" that holds up my table surface to store my cricut items. In one side I have my cricut expression, my cartridges, my gypsy and my laptop with Design Studio in it. In the other side I have photo boxes that hold my cricut overlays and handbooks. It's not the most creative of ideas...but, it works for me! My happy place!

Panda Tags...with Wobblers!

My sister needed a calling card...sort of! So, I came up with this idea. She's attending an event at the San Diego Zoo for the pandas and needed something to put her name on to attach to a little bag of cookies she's passing out to the other panda crazy people she's getting together with. She's printed up her name and email info on a label to go on the back of the tag.

The tag and it's shadow are cut from Gypsy Wanderings (I just picked any tag...and used the Hide Contour feature to hide the design on it...love that feature). The tags are 3" x 5". The panda is from Create a Critter. I cut two of the face shape...one in white and then a black one (again using Hide Contour on the black one to remove the cut outs). I then adhered the black face to the back of the white one. I needed to do this step because I was using the Wobblers under the face.

This is the first time I've used the wobblers and they look so cute with their little bobbing heads!

I also put together a sign for her display. The font is from Cuttin' Up...welded on the Gypsy. The bamboo is from Life's a Beach.

Hybrid Scrapbooking...and Heritage Makers!!!!!

I've found a new crafting love...hybrid scrapbooking! It takes the best of digital...and combines it with the best of traditional...to create a hybrid! It's genius!!!! (Can you hear the Hallelujah chorus?!!!)

Weekly Challenge...Entry

Here's a birthday card I made that I've entered into this week's weekly challenge on the Cricut Circle Blog. For the contest, you needed to use a shape 3 times along with using some spray ink. For the shape, I used sheep from the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge...flipping one of the sheep on my gypsy before cutting it. For the spray ink, I used a q-tip dipped in some pink spray ink for their cheeks!

Redneck Car Decal Family!

My sister wanted some car decals for her husband's old pickup truck...so, here's what I came up with...Redneck Car Peeps! Aren't they funny?!

I used the Car Decals cartridge for the people and then used the guns from either Old West or Stand and Salute. I used my gypsy to weld them together and to remove some of the smaller cuts in the guns that were too hard to cut, at this small size (using hide contour). For the little boy, I used the boy holding a yo-yo, and then placed a small square over the string on it so that the cricut would cut the square, cutting off the yo-yo.

Cricut/Anna Griffin Contest Entry...

Well...it's a new year...so I thought I'd get back into entering the Cricut contests! They keep me challenged and motivated to try new things.

Jinger Adams, with Provo Craft (Cricut) has a new contest out as part of a new product launch for HSN. For this contest, you needed to make a card using a cricut cut from either Wall Decor, Don Juan or...I don't remember the last one...(because I didn't have it!). And, you had to incorporate an item from the designer Anna Griffin. The winner of this contest will get 2 new products from the launch that day...Provo Crafts new product (which we now know is a mini Yudu machine) and the new product that Anna Griffin is launching.

Here's my card...I've used the monogram font from Wall Decor (and the tag from Gypsy Wanderings) as my cricut cuts and then I used the patterned damask paper and scallop border paper from Anna Griffin. I found the green flowers on clearance in the bridal section of Michaels. I also used ivory and brown ribbons to trim it.

Here is my first item for the 2 day blog hop! (Click on the picture to see it larger.)

It's a turkey placemat for the kids table...along with a tag for the kids to write (or draw!) what they are thankful for! The tag serves two purposes...it's a way to keep the kids busy as the thanksgiving dinner is getting ready to be served...and...it can be added to a scrapbook layout later!

The turkey is made using the Create A Critter cartridge, cut at 9 inches. I used a circle punch to cut the white and black for the cartoonish eyes! I also gathered some leaves from our trees (it's just becoming Fall here) and used them as additional colored feathers along with attaching one to the tag with button.

Christmas Sock Cupcakes!

I had saved a bunch of the Spa Socks from Michael's over the summer to make up some Christmas Sock Cupcakes. My plan was to make a bunch for a craft fair we're having at work. But as the craft fair got closer...I realized I didn't have the time to participate (too much going on) so I thought I was going to be stuck with a whole bunch of socks! I made up these 3 sock cupcakes and brought them to work and within minutes had orders for every pair of socks I had...plus more if I can find them!

To make these, I used the cupcake wrapper on the Easter cricut cartridge (3 of them fit on a 12x12 mat). I also used my gypsy to use the Hide Contour feature to remove the little holes in the scallop top of the cupcake wrapper...it allows the wrappers to cut faster and there's less chance of ripping as it tries to cut those little tiny holes. (Tip: do the hide contour on one wrapper and then copy that one for the other two. That way you only have to hide all those holes one time!)

Halloween Luminaries...So Easy!!

These were super easy to make! I used the Happy Hauntings and October 31st cricut cartridges for them. The shapes were cut at 5 1/2 inches out of a dark colored cardstock. Adhere the shapes to the insides of some inexpensive lunch bags. You'll want to use a dry adhesive (double sided tape works great) so that it doesn't bleed through the lunch bags.

I placed a rock in the bottom of the lunch bags and then placed 2 battery tea lights on top of the rocks. Super easy!!

Monthly Contest Entry - Create!

On the Cricut Circle blog they're having a monthly contest along with weekly contests. The monthly contest for October was to make something inspired by the word CREATE. I made a layout to remind myself to Think Creatively!

For the layout I used the Stamping cartridge for the butterflies (the butterfly shadow only), Street Sign is used for the font for Think, and Songbird is used for Creatively. I used my gypsy to weld the letters and shadow letters together for Creatively. I used my iRock for the pearls on the letters and black butterflies. (Click on the pictures to see them larger.)

Think Pink Contest Entry!

The weekly contest on the cricut circle for this week is to make a Think Pink entry. In addition to having at least 2 cuts...you also needed 3 of the following: Some Pink, Scallops, Ruffles, Flourishes, Glitter and Jewels!

For my entry...I made my own Lace Cardstock incorporating the title into the design...and then used the Cricut Markers to highlight the title before I cut it out! I used the following cricut cartridges: George and Basic Shapes (for the hearts and some of the letters), Printing Press (more letters) and Storybook (scallop rectangle).

To make the lace cardstock I used my gypsy to lay out the design, welding all the letters together. (It uses up a lot of memory to do this so it takes a little while to compile before cutting.) I saved the completed page as one design. Then, I opened the design again and deleted all the letters that weren't part of the title.

I then did a 'save as' and made this a separate file. This is the file I used first with the cricut markers ONLY...don't cut this version. When the markers finish, don't unload the mat, just replace the blade housing exactly where it is (Tip: I place a small piece of paper, like a post it note, under the marker tip when I'm taking out the marker just in case I drop it on my paper! I don't want the marker to mark up my good paper.)...once the blade housing is in place, on the gypsy select 'return to design'. From here you can open the second file, the one with the full lace cardstock and select cut. As long as you haven't unloaded the mat, it'll cut the full design exactly, including the section you've highlighted with marker.

Christmas Tags for Tag Swap!

Here are the tags I made for the Tag Swap on the Cricut Circle message board. You needed to make 5 tags for each swap group that you sign up for. I signed up for 2 groups so I'll be getting 10 different tags back! (Click on the pictures to see them larger!)

For the penguin tag I used: Very Merry Tags for the Ho Ho Ho, Joys of the Season for the penquin and the santa hat, and Create a Critter for the scarf (it's from the reindeer tag, just flipped). I used my gypsy to weld all the pieces together first to make the white shadow background and then layered the images on the background. For the Ho Ho Ho I used the cricut markers to outline the letters first before cutting them.

For the reindeer tag I used: Create A Critter for the reindeer and Winter Frolic for the trees. Just like with the penguin tag, I welded the shadow pieces together to create the background layer...which I wanted to be white since it's a tag, there's lots of space to write on the back! I used my iRock to add the metal balls and star gems to the trees.

French Manor Contest Entry

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything! I should look for other contests to enter...as that seems to be what motivates me to get stuff done!

Here's my entry for the French Manor Contest! It's a wall hanging I've made of my daughter. The main square uses a 12x12 page and then the flourishes were cut from a second 12x12 page. I used the new glitter Core'dinations paper for the black background and for the flourishes. A vanilla colored glitter Core'dinations was used for the crown and the bodice. I also used an iRock and pearls to embellish the crown and bodice. The skirt is made from Tim Holtz's paper pack called Lost and Found. (Click on the picture to see it larger.)

Another Contest...another Entry

I'm a sucker for these cricut contests! But...in a good way! I probably wouldn't create anything if it weren't for them.

The latest contest is for your project to appear in their next Infomercial! The deadline is today! Yep, that's me...waiting until the absolute last minute. But, it's finished and is in.

Here's my entry: Teen Nite Lite! (It uses a battery tea light.) You may remember I made a ton of those Christmas houses last year...well, this is that same design. I've been using it to make all kinds of seasonal decor (spring, fall, etc.)! They're so fun!

The cartridges needed to make the house are: Winter Woodland, Christmas (Solution), George and Storybook (and a Gypsy or Design Studio). The dancing girl is from Rock Princess. The pictures don't show it very well but she looks really cool in the house. (Click on pictures to see them larger!)

The windows have cellophane over them to look like glass!

I used glitter cardstock for the window and doors. An irock glam rock for the door handle.

I used American Crafts double sided paper for the house, so the inside of the house is hot pink!!

The girl is cut from the new glitter cardstock by core'dinations! I really love it! It cuts so much easier and cleaner than the DCWV I've been using. I only have to cut once!

My zebra card...update!

The Creative Escape contest, which is what I made my zebra card for, was to have 2 winners. Both winners would get to go to the Creative Escape scrapbook event in Arizona...sponsored by Bazzill. I knew I wouldn't be one of the top two...as there is some INCREDIBLE talent in the Cricut Circle. But...what I didn't know was that they'd decide to award an additional 15 people with Honorable Mentions...each receiving a new cricut cartridge!

I'm so happy to share that my card was selected as an Honorable Mention!!! Yippee!!!

Be Original...Card!

I made this card for the Cricut Creative Escape Contest for the Cricut Circle. You could only use Provo Craft and Bazzill products. All the cards are being donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. There really wasn't a theme (ie., birthday, get well, etc.) so I went with an idea that just made me happy!

The card is 4.25 x 5 inches. I used the Create a Critter cartridge for the zebras cut at 2". The sun is from Doodlecharms cut at 1.5". I used some chalk on the sun to give it some dimension. I also cut a couple small circles out of pink to make the cheeks for the sun. For the colorful zebra, I cut one from each color that I needed and then placed them all on top of each other and cut through all 4 at once. I then took a piece from each color and pieced them together like a jigsaw puzzle!

I used my Janome Sew Mini to do the stitching. I love that little machine!

I used a rub on for the lettering.

The cricut cartridges I used on the layout are: Create A Critter, Zooballoo, Cindy Lou, Once Upon A Princess, Going Places and French Manor.

Here's closer up of the 1st page. I did a lot of chalking and stitching on this layout. And, I used a lot of dimensional adhesives to made the items pop!

and the frog...I love his little pond. There wasn't a shadow feature for the pond so I just winged it...it's a little odd shaped...but, I like the way it turned out.

Art Show Sign for Denise!

My sister, Denise, is having her first art show at the El Dorado Hills Town Center tonight and she needed a sign for her display. She's the one I've been making the mermaid tags for. Here's what I came up with for her...

The fonts are Songbird and Cuttin' Up...welded using the Gypsy. The shapes are: Palm Trees, Waves and Flowers - Life is a Beach, Sun - Gypsy Wanderings, Mermaid - Once Upon a Princess and the Whale is from Create a Critter!

Mermaid tags...Once Upon a Princess

These mermaid tags are cut at 4" using the Once Upon a Princess cricut cartridge...for all pieces expect the bikini top...it's from the Life's a Beach cartridge. I used my gypsy to hide contour the bikini bottom and parts of the straps, along with the facial features, as I didn't want them cut out. (Click on the pictures to view them larger.)

I've just started using chalk to add shading and dimension to my die cuts. Here's a picture of a mermaid with chalk...and one without the chalk.

I use the Non-Smear Pastels from The Stencil Collection for my chalk.

Create A Critter - Vinyl Pandas

My crazy, panda obsessed sister...Sandy...wanted some vinyl pandas to put on the back windshield of her car to represent her 4 grandchildren...no normal stick figure kids would do! So...I got some outdoor vinyl and cut pandas from the Create A Critter cartridge. Because it was going on a tinted window, I wanted to cut a shadow layer in white so that it would stand out. Unfortunately, the panda shadow on CAC included the Chinese hat! I used sciccors to trim away the excess hat pieces.

Here's the panda kids, two girls and two boys, on the back of Sandy's PT Cruiser!

New Cricut Cartridge...3 Birds on Parade!

Cricut announced a new cartridge today that I just love! It's called 3 Birds on Parade! Here's what it looks like...

When I saw the little blue bird it reminded of a digital scrapbooking kit I had made called It's Spring! In honor of the new 3 Birds cartridge (which I wish I could get my hands on...but, not for awhile)...I've reloaded my digital kit to 4shared and am giving it away for free! The Graduate!

It's hard to believe that Matt graduated from High School! And...he did what he set out to do and graduated as a Junior! We're so proud of him! Here are the Thank You cards I made for him to send out. I used the Everyday Paper Doll cartridge for the grad and the Doodletype cartridge for the Thanks.

I altered the grad cut a little bit, by cutting off the bottom of the gown and putting pants underneath. I also put a piece of a white shirt under the top portion of the gown. I used chalk on the edges of the paperdoll to give it a little definition.

Tropical Layout - Gypsy Challenge

This is a layout I made for a gypsy challenge over at the cricut message board. I want to start using my gypsy and cricut more so I thought I'd participate in some of the challenges. This layout uses Lifes a Beach, Graphically Speaking and the Going Places cricut cartridges. Using the gypsy, I welded the word 'Travel' and the word 'Discover' (both from GS) to the sun (from GP) and then cut it as one piece. I also outlined it using the cricut markers...this is so much easier to do using the gypsy!

I have the greatest new scrap space...it's in my dining room! (Formal dining rooms are so overrated!) We've been using the kitchen nook to eat in ever since we remodeled the kitchen...so...when we were planning to put new carpeting in the living room and dining room, I asked Tom what he thought of giving me the dining room space for my office/scrapbooking area! He thought it was a great idea...! Yippee!!! Once the new carpet was in...we moved the large dining room table into the kitchen nook...and then headed to Ikea!

We kept the hutch that matches the table in this space. I have my ribbons, flowers and button jars in it! It's very colorful! Boxes of pictures are on the top.

This piece is from Ikea. In one table leg is my cricut center. The other table leg holds embellishments. The drawer in the middle holds punches and other supplies.

My cricut center...the E is on the top shelf. The middle shelf has my netbook and Gypsy. And the bottom has my cartridges (overlays and handbooks are in photo boxes next my desk).

These are the drawes underneath the table that holds more cricut stuff (gel pen/sharpie holders etc.), punches, my ATG fits in the space on top just below the table (it's so convenient!).

I LOVE the black spinning rack in the corner between the two desks. I got it at Nearly New from Continental Display! It's this really cool store (warehouse) in Sacramento that sells used display fixtures! I've got so much room to expand on it! The little buckets hanging on it that are holding tools were from the 99 cent store!

Domo sits on my desk in front of the bulletin board. I don't know who Domo is...he just made me smile at the store...so, I brought him home. He's now my creative buddy!

Under the window are two Ikea shelves on their side. A third one is upright next to the desk. These are from the Lack series at Ikea. The shelves hold my printer, tools, projects in process, etc. I have a clip it up at one end (with another metal display from Nearly New next to it). On the other end I have a wire basket that holds new products to play with!

Next to my space I have an old tv cabinet where I store all my paper. There is so much light in this space with all the windows that I had to have a closed space for my paper.

Here's the cabinet open...papers, paper packs, vinyl, etc. is stored here. I adhered some cork tiles to one door and use them for special brads.

My copics are stored in Journal Mate cases from Creative Memories and sit under my computer monitor.

Tropical Party Invitation!

This was my entry for the cricut contest held at the end of December '09. It's a party invitation. I used Design Study to weld each of my items together to make the base and then cut the corresponding image for each weld. The cartrides I used were Life is a Beach and Stamping.

Last craft fair item...Snowman Poop Bags!

These were really popular too! I used Design Studio to make the bags with the center cut out...using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cartridge. And then the snowman is made from the Doodlecharms cartridge. In each bag we had a packet of hot chocolate, a candy cane and a little bag of mini marshmallows (the poop!).

Elf Yourself...Tags!

Here's something else I made for the craft fair...Elf Yourself tags! These sold out so quickly...it was crazy! The brunettes were the first to go...who knew?!

I made these in Design Studio, welding all the pieces together first to create a backing for them. I used my cricut markers to draw in the details on the clothes before cutting them out! The elves are cut at 4 1/2" using the Paper Dolls Dress Up cartridge.

I used my new It's Spring kit to scrap this layout of my daughter!

And...here's a little technique I used on it: To make the scallop border, I created circles in a row behind the photo...it makes an easy pretend scallop edge! And, then add an adjustment layer - using 'pattern' to add some texture to the scallop...you'll have your own instant textured cardstock!

I made the digital scrapbook layout on the cover of the October - November 2008 issue of Digital Scrapbooking Magazine! It's been a little overwhelming to walk into Borders, Michaels, and even the local grocery store and see Kelsey peeking out at us from the magazine rack! Unfortunately...the magazine just announced that they're ceasing publication at the beginning of 2009...due to the economy woes...so, no more covers on this one. (Darn it...Matt still hasn't forgiven me for editing him out of this picture with Kelsey...he could've been on it too!)
